Amitabh Or Muzaffar Ali Shah!

Filmmaker and fashion designer Muzzaffar Ali is upset that Amitabh Bachchan's look in "The Last Lear" has been styled on him and says he doesn't want anyone to imitate his looks.

The director of the film Rituparno Ghosh has however denied the allegation and maintains that Big B was supposed to look like Rabindranath Tagore. The controversy surfaced when Ali started receiving phone calls from foreigners who thought Bachchan's look in the film was styled on him.

Ali's director son Shaad Ali also affirmed that the look of Big B's character in the film was based on him. “It is absolutely wrong to associate someone like this. I am a very private person and I don't want to attract any attention,” Ali said. Ghosh however
maintains that Big B's look was not styled on Ali. "Amitda's get-up in 'The Last Lear' was meant to be like Rabindranath Tagore. Long flowing hair and beard, unkempt and untameable. But he finally ended up looking like M.F. Husain," Rituparno Ghosh said.

Ali was also displeased at Ghosh's remarks when he contacted the latter to discuss the matter. Ghosh had reportedly said and later denied that Ali behaved like Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Raj Thackeray over the phone. “He (Ghosh) may deny it but he said it to me when I was a little strong with him over the phone,” Ali said.
On being asked about his plans to take the matter further, he said: “I am not planning anything.” Ali also said that he was not looking for any royalty or any compensation from the filmmakers of “The Last Lear”. Ali has been associated with films like “Gaman”, “Anjuman” and with the widely appreciated period film “Umrao Jaan” starring Rekha, Farouque Shaikh and Naseeruddin Shah.
